This Lodge opened in 2005 as a provisional Lodge in Nottingham meeting at The Theosophical Hall, Maid Marian Way, Nottingham NG1 6AJ

11th March, 2007

The Lodge is one of the newest Lodges, having been Consecrated in 2007. However, our activities started in 2005, when the first ever Provisional Lodge was set up in Nottingham. This was formed of a small group of Freemasons, experienced Past Masters and new Initiates, who have worked together under the supervision and assistance of Grand Lodge towards the goal, now achieved, of a fully Warranted Lodge operating in the city.

Our small but dedicated team now meet 8 times each year, and are actively seeking to grow our membership. We already have several candidates waiting for Initiation.

Enquiries from potential new members are welcome; in the first instance, please contact the  grandsecretary@grandlodge.org.uk

Lodge Salutation No.7 in the Province of Nottingham was Consecrated, Constituted and Warranted on Sunday 24th June, 2007, in the Grand Temple, Royal National Hotel, Bedford Way, London.

Members of the Provisional Lodge were given the opportunity of creating a name, logo, and theme in order that the most acceptable name be chosen.

The Board of General Purposes at its Meeting on 11th March, 2007, agreed that the name Salutation was suitable. The name comes from a medieval Inn located nearby to the Theosophical Hall in Maid Marian Way, Nottingham.

The original Inn sign depicted a handshake, a welcoming sign to weary travellers and pilgrims on the lonely roads to Sherwood Forest and to nearby Monasteries of those days. The site of the present Inn is situated in an area which was once the site of tanning works and famous for its lace industry. It is also near the Nottingham Castle famous for its connections and the history of the Crusaders; and the stonemasons who would have been very involved in the building of the castle, who would have been refreshed and rested at the Salutation Inn. The history of the site and of the sign Salutation lends itself to “blessings of true friends and greetings to all.”

The motto of the Lodge is 'Semper Fidelis ' meaning, always loyal, true and faithful and Semper Sodalitas meaning Friendship, which depicted in the Lodge, is so meaningful with the principles of Brotherly love, charity and truth.
