In September 2002, the Lodge organised a sponsored walk, which was attended by many members and friends. The walk, over a distance of 10 miles, raised £1400, which was given to the Bristol MS Nerve Centre Appeal. The Appeal is raising money to build a Multiple Sclerosis Research Centre at Bristol’s Frenchay Hospital.

Pictured is one group of walkers with their hearts set on filling the bucket. Who could refuse?

We spent a delightful day on the Kennett and Avon Canal and quite apart from the tremendous sponsorship we had already gathered, the generosity of walkers, cyclists and members of the barge community was enough to raise the sprits as we covered the miles.
We also greatly appreciate the efforts of several non-members who took part in the walk and helped to swell the total.

The photograph shows the Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Audrey Westcott presenting the cheque for £1400 to John Floyd (left) and John Mitchell of the MS Society.
The Most Worshipful Grand Master was in attendance and he spoke of the event, the work of the Lodge and Freemasonry in general to an invited audience of Lodge Brethren, friends and the press. On display were several items of Lodge

Then, at the beginning of December we held a evening event at The Old Grammar School, the highlight of which was the presentation of the cheque to representatives of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The Most Worshipful Grand Master was in attendance and he spoke of the event, the work of the Lodge and Freemasonry in general to an invited audience of Lodge Brethren, friends and the press. On display were several items of Lodge Furniture and Regalia together with a collage of photographs put together for the event.
